Since you were born with those big blue eyes and that dark thick hair, Ive been wanting you to be Dorothy for Halloween. Being three, you were finally able to see the movie and I vamped it up enough to get you excited. Target had the perfect red glitter shoes, and being Dorothy is all about the Ruby slippers. The problem? Every Dorothy costume at the store was tacky!(to say the least.) As I searched for a blue gingham dress I realized something: My favorite part of halloween as a child was getting out the costume box and thumbing through the costumes from years gone by. Amidst the candy, the jack-o-lanterns, the parties and the friends, my mother's homemade costumes were the thing I looked forward to most. Call me nostalgic, but I want to give that to my girls.
